Upward Bound (UB) is a program, coordinated through Dakota County Technical College (DCTC), that helps students prepare for college throughout high school. Students meet twice a week after school and one Saturday a month during the school year. In addition, UB students participate in a six-week long summer program that includes several college visits and a week-long trip during which students stay overnight on a college campus. UB is looking for students who have the potential to succeed in high school and college, but may need some guidance and support to get there.

To be eligible for Upward Bound, a student must be from a family that either qualifies as low-income or where neither parent has a four-year degree. All services are completely free to students and their families.

Students apply to be part of Upward Bound at the end of 8th grade or the beginning of 9th or 10th grade. Learn more about Upward Bound on the DCTC website.
