Photo Linda ZurnTeaching in the Family and Consumer Education Department (FACS) is challenging and exciting. New developments in this field along with the continuing incorporation of technology into the classroom have changed the way students are taught and learn.

Courses that I teach in the FACS department include:  Child Psychology, Clothing Design, Creative Clothing, Interior Design, On Your Own, and Introduction to Foods. I have developed hybrid online courses for On Your Own and Interior Design. In addition, I coordinate BOND, the pregnant and parenting teen program at the high school.

Besides teaching the FACS classes, I am also a licensed K-12 Reading Teacher who works with struggling high school readers and coaches  teachers on reading strategies to assist their students.

I have a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin Stout with a concentration in Family Life and Child Development.  At St. Mary's University of Minnesota I completed the Master of Education degree and graduate coursework to be a licensed K-12 Reading Teacher.

I have been teaching at Henry Sibley High School since 1998, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching at the high school level.

After school I love to spend time with my family and friends.  During my summers I also enjoy gardening, sewing, baking, and walks with our golden retriever.
